Police arraign man for stealing two goats

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 56-year-old man, Oladimeji David, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two he-goats.
The police prosecutor, Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 13 at about 4:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr Okunade alleged that the he-goats were worth N80,000 and belonged to Nurudeen Ambali and Olubodun Iyabo.
He said the offence contravened section 320(1) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
The prosecutor prayed for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defence counsel, Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant her client bail, and assured the court that her client would not jump bail.
Chief magistrate A.O Adeosun granted a N50,000 bail to the defendant with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until April 6 for hearing.
