The police on Monday arraigned a 43-year-old Mutiu Yekini before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan for allegedly receiving a stolen vehicle.

Mr Yekini, whose address was not provided, is being tried for charges bordering on alleged receipt of stolen property, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in October 2024 in the Liberty area of Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant received a Toyota Camry worth N1.5 million from Oluwasegun Soyemi, knowing it had been stolen from the rightful owner, Emmanuel Adeoye.

Mr Adegbenro said the offence contravened section 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, granted the defendant N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 6 for a hearing.
