Police arraign man, 24, over alleged house breaking, theft

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 24-year-old man, Olabode Johnson, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged house breaking and stealing.
The defendant, whose house address was not provided, is standing trial on a three-count charge of house breaking, stealing and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 4 at about 10:00 a.m at Odo Aremu Street in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant broke into the dwelling house of one Ojilo John.
Mr Apata said that the defendant stole sewing machine, one motorcycle tank, one black plastic bucket and electrical wire of Yamaha motorcycle all valued at N450,000 belonging to the complainant.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Counsel to the defendant, Paul Ayantoyinbo, urged the court to grant his client bail with a promise that he would not jump bail.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Taiwo Ajibade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until September 24 for hearing.
