Police arraign businesswoman for stoning neighbour

A 28-year-old businesswoman, Happiness Joshua, was docked Dei-Dei Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for stoning her neighbour.
The prosecution counsel, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the complainant, Karie Emmanuel, reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station on Tuesday.
Mr Olanipekun alleged that the defendant engaged the complainant in an argument and hit her on her forehead with a stone on September 19.
The prosecution counsel said the complainant sustained an injury and was rushed to Diamond Crest Hospital for treatment; her hospital bill was N13,000.
He said the offence contravened section 248 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The judge, Sulyman Ola, admitted the defendant to N100,000 bail, with one surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Mr Ola said the surety must provide means of identification. He adjourned the case until November 24 for a hearing.
