Plateau university receives N1.2 billion intervention fund

The vice-chancellor of Plateau State University, Benard Matur, announced that the institution had received a N1.2 billion intervention from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
During an interview on Saturday in Bokkos, Mr Matur expressed his gratitude to TETFund for the funds received for the 2023 allocation, which would be used for normal and zonal interventions.
”The fund is being used to construct a 1,000-capacity female hostel and develop the Information and communication technology (ICT) unit,” he said.
Mr Matur mentioned that 64 academic and non-academic staff of the university were currently on scholarships within and outside the country funded by TETFund, and 25 new educational programmes were introduced in the institution in addition to the 17 existing ones.
He added that the newly introduced programmes would be at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
”We have also concluded plans for the take-off of our School of Business Studies with more than two dozen programmes at the diploma, postgraduate, master’s, and doctorate levels,” he said.
Mr Matur promised to promote quality academic standards in the university, adding that such a move would enable its graduates to compete favourably in the wider society.
He thanked the state government for its commitment to the growth and development of the university.
