Plateau deputy speaker loses seat to PDP

Yakubu Sanda, speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly, lost his Pengana constituency seat to Happiness Akawu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Akawu secured 9,926 votes in Saturday’s election to defeat Mr Sanda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 7,936 votes.
The INEC Returning Officer thereby declared Mr Akawu as the winner of the election, having scored the highest number of votes.
