Nentawe Yilwatda, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau, has promised to set aside 10 per cent of the state’s internally generated revenue to support Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

Mr Yilwatda made the promise at the 2023 Plateau Gubernatorial Debate on Saturday in Jos.

According to him, the special fund will be set aside for PWDs to access as credit facilities with zero interest rate.

“The fund will boost their businesses and make them self-reliant,” he explained.

He also promised to build special schools for persons with disabilities, insisting that access to education for them is crucial to securing a better life.

He said that his government would also ensure that all key institutions were PWDs friendly.

“We shall also appoint PWDs into key positions because we are more interested in their intellectual capacities and what they have to offer toward a greater Plateau,” he said.

The candidate promised to provide an operational framework for the existing law on PWDs in Plateau.

“We shall work toward ensuring that PWDs attain their full potentials in life,” he stated.
