PHOTOS: Lagos Ministry of Environment clears flood on Iyana-Oworo

Lagos State residents on Wednesday woke up to long hours of rainfall, leading to floods in some parts of the state.
Particularly, the downpour at the Iyana-Oworo area of the state, witnessed a part of the expressway before the Third Mainland Bridge, along with some vehicles plying it, submerged by flood.
Viral videos also showed that the flood led to huge vehicular obstruction from the area to the Alapere area of Ketu.
However, the State Ministry of Environment told Peoples Gazette that the flood that ravaged the area had been cleared.
The Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, told The Gazette, that he and his team had been out since 4am, trying to ensure that blockages that would further retain water across the flooded areas in the state were removed.
“I have been out since 4am on the tour and assessment of the situation. We are very good. The sea level is up, so there will be flash flooding in a few areas… but within the next 120 minutes, we should be good,” Mr Wahab assured.
According to him, part of the reason for the slow movement of vehicular activities on the Iyana-Oworo Third Mainland Bridge axis was the accident that involved a BRT bus which had been cleared.
Mr Wahab also stated that the water at Olopo Meji had also been cleared.
