Peter Obi blames Tinubu for Labour Party crisis

Peter Obi, a former Anambra governor, has accused the President Bola Tinubu-led government of instigating and sustaining problems in his Labour Party.
Mr Obi, in an interview with Arise TV on Monday, cited Labour Party chairman Julius Abure as insulting other party members as evidence.
Asked why he has not been able to resolve the crisis in his party, Mr Obi blamed the political crisis in LP on Mr Tinubu-led government.
“This is what you always get in Nigeria because we now live in a country of propaganda and lies. They manufacture it,” Mr Obi said. “The problem we have in the Labour Party is instigated and sustained by the government of today.”
When asked to provide evidence to back his accusation against the Tinubu-led government, Mr Obi referenced Mr Abure’s statement, in which he called the Abia State governor, Alex Otti, a dwarf.
“I don’t need to tell you… When you have a party chairman who calls a state governor a dwarf and dwarf thinking, forget about me. Is Otti weak? OK. I’m weak. Is every other person weak,” Mr Obi said.
He added, “We now live in a country of propaganda and lies trying to put problems everywhere even in families. I’ve built a business locally and internationally, and they are thriving by the time I left them. I’ve been chairman of companies; I’ve earned my respect.”
Amid a festering tussle for LP leadership, Messrs Abure and Otti were entangled in a war of words in recent times.
