Peace Negotiations: African presidents to visit Russia, Ukraine mid-June

On Tuesday, the office of the President of South Africa said the leaders of several African countries had confirmed the possibility of their visit to Russia and Ukraine in mid-June.
In a statement, the president’s office said this was a part of some efforts to resolve the Ukrainian war initiated by Russia.
Earlier in the day, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa held a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, Senegalese President Macky Sall, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and the Chairperson of African Union, Azali Assoumani.
In addition, the leaders of several African countries agreed to cooperate with Moscow and Kyiv on a ceasefire in Ukraine.
The statement added that the African leaders also instructed foreign ministers to finalise the elements of a settlement plan on the conflict in Ukraine.
