The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has advised Imo youths to resist being used by politicians to perpetrate thuggery and violence during Saturday’s governorship poll.

The state chairman of the committee, Chima Chukwunyere, gave the advice at a news briefing in Owerri on Friday.

Mr Chukwunyere said that the committee engaged in a week-long campaign for a peaceful and credible poll across the state.

He said the campaign was meant to discourage the youths, as the future of the country, from getting involved in any form of thuggery or electoral violence.

He further admonished them to avoid financial inducement from politicians and also resist any attempts to lure them into electoral malpractice.

“No politician is worth dying for.

“Our youths must know that when they get into trouble, no politician will come to save them.

“They must know that any seed sown today shall be reaped tomorrow,” Mr Chukwunyere said.

He, however, advised politicians to set good examples for youths and refrain from laying the wrong foundation for them, adding that the best leadership is by example.

“Politicians must not mislead our youths. Enough is enough,“ he said.
