Operatives of the Oyo State police command on Friday raided the home of one Surajudeen Babatunde Adio, popularly known as Surii Ilupeju, and arrested five suspected armed robbers.
The spokesperson for the command, Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Mr Olayinka said, “On the 12th of June, 2026, at about 0100hrs, operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence and in furtherance of ongoing intelligence-led operations against violent crimes, stormed the residence of one Surajudeen Babatunde Adio, popularly known as “Surii Ilupeju”, located at Gbeku Area, Olodo, Ibadan.”
According to the statement, the nabbed suspects, all males, include the following: 43-year-old Ahmed Nafiu; 36-year-old Olukunmi Olaniyi; 53-year-old Femi Odeyinde; 50-year-old Jelili Akinade; and 27-year-old Muhideen Adio.
The operatives, during a thorough search conducted in the premises, also recovered exhibits including one pump-action gun; one single-barrel cut-to-size gun; eight live cartridges; one native bullet-proof vest; two bottles of suspected charm-induced syrup; assorted charms; and other incriminating items.
“The suspects are currently in Police custody while discreet investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full extent of their involvement in criminal activities and to apprehend other members of the syndicate who may still be at large,” the command said.
Noting that targeted raids of identified criminal hideouts will continue until all criminal elements are brought to justice, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Ayodeji, urged members of the public to continue to support the police with timely and credible information and promised that all information received will be treated with confidentiality.
