Oyo pensioners commend Gov Makinde for upward review of pension

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state council, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde over the upward review of pensions in the state.
The commendation was noted in a statement jointly signed by the union’s chairman, Osuntade Ayoade, and the secretary, Olusegun Abatan, on Wednesday in Ibadan.
“We wish to inform our revered members that the governor has announced a pension review for pensioners. The least paid pensioners will now earn N25,000,” the statement said.
It added that the least paid pensioner in the state, before the review, earned N1,000.
It further said the governor had also graciously factored in the 33 per cent pension increase which was to have been implemented in 2010.
“The consequential adjustment to pension in 2019, 20 per cent on pension across the board and part of N32,000 pension increase across the board. Payment of the review takes effect from January 2025 payment,” the statement explained.
