Oyo assembly passes bill to rename Okeogun Polytechnic, Saki

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill to rename the Okeogun Polytechnic, Saki, to Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso Polytechnic, Saki, in honour of the late elder statesmen.
The bill was passed after the presentation of the report to the House Committee on Education (Tertiary Institutions, Science and Technology).
The report was read by the committee chairman, Oluwafemi Oluwafowokanmi, tagged “Okeogun Polytechnic Saki Amendment Bill, 2024”, and was passed after a clause by the House.
The speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, said the bill was to honour Mr Koleoso’s significant contributions to Okeogun and, indeed, Oyo State in general.
Mr Koleoso, a former Secretary to Oyo State Government (SSG) between 1999 and 2003 during the administration of former Governor Lamidi Adesina, died on September 2 at 86.
He was elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly in 1979 before former governor Bola Ige appointed him commissioner the same year.
Until his death, Mr Koleoso was the Babalaje of Saki land.
