Oyo APC working to dislodge PDP in 2027: Rep

The chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on FERMA, Aderemi Oseni, says APC stakeholders in Oyo State regret the governorship loss in 2023 and are already working to dislodge PDP in 2027.
Mr Oseni, who represents the Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said this in an interview with journalists on Sunday in Lagos.
He also said the party had learnt from the mistakes made in the recent bye-election in the state, which PDP won.
“I believe our approach to the 2027 elections will be different. We are working hard to dislodge the ruling PDP,” Mr Oseni said.
According to him, party leaders are building the APC in Oyo State to avoid defeat in 2027.
On his ambition for 2027, Mr Oseni said his primary interest was to see Oyo APC back on track.
He, however, said he was presently positioning himself for a higher responsibility and would heed any call to serve the people of the state at a higher level.
The lawmaker noted that his support group, Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), comprising no fewer than 200,000 members, had already commenced mobilising support for the party in the state, ahead of 2027.
He said politics should not be left in the hands of people who seek personal gains against the public interest.
The lawmaker said it was imperative for the party to present the best candidates for executive and legislative positions in 2027 to win big.
Mr Oseni also advised the party to consult widely and strategically to agree on the zoning of governorship tickets.
The lawmaker noted that Ibadan, which falls under Oyo South Senatorial District, had consistently produced governors in the state, except on one or two occasions, sidelining other districts.
“Why is Ibadan always against zoning the governorship office to Oyo Central or Oyo North? Honestly, this is one of the questions people have been asking.
“It is the responsibility of the elders of the state to come together, meet the people of Ibarapa, Ibadan and Oke-Ogun. We must work out an understanding on how to rotate the office of the governor among the zones,” he said.
Stressing the need to allow other senatorial districts to produce governors, Mr Oseni said this would also help the APC win in the state.
He said all APC stakeholders must work together for the rebirth of the party in Oyo State and beyond.
