Over 7,000 people killed in two years in Sahel region: Abdulasalami Abubakar

Former military head of state Abdulsalami Abubakar says 4,660 people were killed in 2020. Two thousand six hundred sixty civilians lost their lives in 2021 in the Sahel region due to insecurity.
Abubakar stated this at the News Agency of Nigeria’s Inaugural Annual International Lecture.
The lecture was titled ‘Insecurity in the Sahel (2008-2024): Dissecting Nigeria’s Challenges – Genesis, Impacts and Options’.
The management of NAN conceived the event as part of an effort to tackle the menace of insecurity in Sahel and Nigeria.
