Osun govt appoints new Akinrun, nine other rulers

The Osun government, on Wednesday, announced the appointment of Yinusa Akadiri of the Oba-Ara Ruling House, as the new Akinrun of Ikirun, in the Ifelodun local government area.
Information commissioner Funke Egbemode, in a statement, said the announcement of the new Akinrun was made after the state’s executive council meeting.
According to the statement, Mr Akadiri’s emergence followed majority votes in his favour in a meeting of Ikirun kingmakers on November 19, 2021, where he polled six out of seven votes to defeat 17 other candidates.
The seat of Akinrun became vacant on February 8, 2021, following the demise of Oba Rauf Olawale Adedeji, who ascended the throne in 1991.
The Osun government also announced the appointments of nine other traditional rulers across the state.
The appointments take immediate effect, according to the statement.
