The Osun government has approved the recruitment of 1,000 Amotekun Corps personnel to boost security the situation in the state.

The corps’ commander, Isaac Omoyele, disclosed this while speaking with journalists on Tuesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

Mr Omoyele said the recruitment of the 1,000 corps was to complement the existing 320 personnel.

He said the security outfit was also collaborating with the neighbouring states to ensure border security.

Mr Omoyele said the state government allocated an adequate budget for the corps in the 2025 appropriation law to ensure adequate security provision.

He also said the state government was assisting the corps in tackling challenges such as the lack of operational vehicles, weapons, and manpower.

Mr Omoyele added that the corps would continue discharging its duties without fear or favour.
