Osun 2022: Gov. Oyetola asks politicians to allow peace reign

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun has appealed to politicians in the state to play according to the rules as the campaign for the July 16 governorship election approaches.
Mr Oyetola, who said this while addressing journalists after observing the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Osogbo Central Eid Praying Ground on Monday, also appealed to them to avoid anything that could threaten the peace of the state.
The governor said that politics should not be seen as a do-or-die, hence the need for loyalists and supporters of candidates and political parties to maintain decorum and guide their public conduct before, during and after the election.
He said that his administration would leave no stone unturned to maintain the pervading peace in the state.
Mr Oyetola stressed the need for citizens to be vanguards of peace and reflect the same in their private and public conduct.
The governor also congratulated Muslim Ummah for witnessing another Eid-el-Fitr celebration and urged them to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan.
He enjoined them to continue to have a fear of God, obey God’s commandments and be their brothers’ keepers.
“I urge our people to have a fear of God always. I also want to enjoin our parents and guardians to train their children with fairness and fear of God,” he said.
