Ode to the Father

Fatherhood is a gift from God. A blessing from the most high. Then a choice from a grateful heart, following the example of The Father.
Then an unending sacrifice.
Sweat on the brow. Rising every morn. His own wants and needs deferred. Seeking only that his princes and princesses be well, and the queen.
Many times he strives unappreciated. His travails and battles unknown. Very rarely feels he like a king.
Silent pains, unspoken burdens. He bears them all without murmur.
Show love and compassion to the father. That perhaps is all he gets. Give him gratitude, and watch him smile. And pray. As all the pain melts away.
God strengthen our fathers when we are weak. Give us energy when we are faint. Grant us wisdom, which we often need. So our labours be not in vain.
Then when our work is finally done. Grant us rest and joy and peace. Then let us depart in peace. Our children and grandchildren by our side. And great grandchildren if it be God’s will. Saying Father, I did my best.
