One dead, three injured after shooting at high school graduation ceremony

A new attack by an active shooter has left one person dead and two people injured at a graduation ceremony on the campus of Xavier University in New Orleans, United States, on Tuesday.
The New Orleans police confirm three people were shot and taken to an area hospital by EMS for treatment.
One of the fatally injured victims was an elderly woman and the other two were males. One was shot in the shoulder and the other in the leg, both of them are expected to survive.
“There was a fight that broke out, apparently between two females in the parking lot,” which led to gunfire, NOPD Deputy Superintendent Chris Goodly told NBC.
Mr Goodly added that the fight escalated, and at least one person pulled out a weapon and began firing.
Three people were immediately detained for questioning, and weapons that might have been used were recovered, police said.
At the scene, a handgun could be seen lying in a parking lot and an SUV’s window was broken into pieces as police investigated
This shooting comes a week after a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killing 19 children and two teachers.
Also, on May 19, four people were left injured after gunfire broke out at a graduation ceremony at Hammond High School, Southeastern Louisiana University.
In the past week, there have been three shooting attacks at high school graduation ceremonies in Louisiana, Michigan and Tennessee, leaving one person killed and seven others injured.
