Ondo police arrest six suspects over alleged sale of stolen vehicles

The police command in Ondo State has arrested six suspects over the alleged fraudulent sale and illegal transfer of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at more than N71 million.
The command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Fagun Division.
The suspects were identified as Adeola Kolawole, Gani Bello, Oladoja Akeem, Wasiu Adigun, Azeez Yusuf and Ojo Mudasiru, 40.
Mr Jimoh said the suspects were apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, following an intelligence-driven investigation by operatives of the division.
“The case was reported to the Police on 22nd May, 2026, by one Mr. Paul Aderemi of Ayegunle Street, Ondo.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that in May 2025, the complainant purchased a low-loader truck, a tipper truck, and a small truck valued at approximately ₦71 million, which he entrusted to the custody of the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, at Arigbabola Street, Ondo, under an agreed arrangement,” he said.
According to him, the complainant later discovered on May 13, 2026, that the vehicles had allegedly been sold without his authorisation.
Mr Jimoh said the complainant subsequently reported the matter to the police.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, detectives immediately commenced a comprehensive investigation. Acting on credible intelligence, the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, was arrested and subsequently made useful statements during interrogation, allegedly admitting to selling the vehicles to one Alhaji Gani Bello in Ibadan,” said Mr Jimoh.
He added that the suspect’s confession provided vital leads that enabled investigators to track down and arrest other suspects believed to have played various roles in the alleged transaction.
“The command is currently intensifying efforts to recover the three vehicles and unravel the full extent of the criminal conspiracy.”
“All six suspects have reportedly made confessional statements detailing their respective involvements in the offence. They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Mr Jimoh said.
