Ondo govt seeks public support in fight against fake products
The Ondo State Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (ODCCPA) has urged residents to provide credible information to combat fake and counterfeit products.
In a statement on Friday, ODCCPA’s executive chairman, Oluyemi Fasipe, urged residents to report suspicious production facilities and illegal activities involving adulterated and substandard products.
He called on the public to report the production and distribution of fake drinks, food items and other potentially dangerous products.
Mr Fasipe assured residents that information provided would be treated with strict confidentiality, urging whistle-blowers to come forward without fear.
He said that public cooperation was essential to protecting lives and safeguarding consumer interests.
“Timely information from residents will assist the agency in identifying offenders and preventing harmful products from reaching consumers,” he said.
Mr Fasipe urged community leaders, traders and other stakeholders to support the agency’s efforts by reporting suspected violations.
He also encouraged residents to share the information through social media platforms, community groups and other networks to raise awareness.
He provided the agency’s hotline as 09043353001 and email address, cpcondo149@gmail.com, for members of the public to report suspected cases.
Mr Fasipe reiterated the agency’s commitment to consumer protection, the promotion of fair business practices and ensuring the sale of safe and quality products in Ondo.
