Ondo Election: Tight security as INEC deploys staff in registration area centres

Security has been beefed up at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Okitipupa, Okitipupa LGAs in Ondo ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
INEC has also begun the deployment of both regular and ad hoc staff to their respective registration area centre for the election.
The INEC office in Okitipupa said that officers of the Nigeria Police and Federal Road Safety Corps were stationed in and outside the office to maintain decorum.
Vehicles transporting sensitive materials and INEC staff to their various RACs were being thoroughly screened.
Sensitive materials like ballot papers, ballot boxes, and Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) machines had also arrived at the INEC office in Okitipupa and were ready for movement to racks.
Adedayo Fakorede, an INEC senior official, said all the sensitive materials arrived in Okitipupa late Thursday night.
He said posting sensitive materials with INEC’s supervisory, assistant polling officers, and other officers to their various RACs had begun.
