Ogun: Police arraign man for allegedly stabbing another with knife

A 37-year-old man, Sani Tasun, on Friday appeared before the Ota Magistrates ‘Court, Ogun, for allegedly stabbing one Sani Jubril with a knife.
Mr Tasun, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault. He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on April 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kurata Ori-Okuta area of Ota.
Mr Adaraloye alleged that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to assault Mr Jubril by stabbing him with a knife, causing him a permanent injury.
The prosecutor said the offences were punishable under section 4(1) of the Violence (Prohibition) Law of Ogun.
Mr Adaraloye added that the offences contravened section 249 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.
The magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendant N 1 million bail with one surety in like sum.
Ms Fadairo said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed and have evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
The magistrate adjourned the case until May 5 for a substantive hearing.
