Ogun man caught stealing company’s delivery van: Police

A 54-year-old man, Odebunmi Adebayo, on Wednesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates ‘Court, Ogun, over the alleged theft of a delivery van.
Mr Adebayo is being charged with stealing and burglary, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that Mr Adebayo and others now at large committed the offences on March 17, at No. 7, Eleyowo St., off Obasanjo Farm Road, Ota.
Mr Adaraloye further stated that the defendant broke into the premises of Dofelan Company Limited and stole a Suzuki delivery van, with registration number KRD 231 YK.
The prosecutor said the defendant was apprehended by members of a vigilance group and turned over to the police.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 413 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, admitted the defendant to bail of N300,000, with one surety in like sum.
Ms Fadairo said that the surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction should be gainfully employed.
The magistrate further ordered that the surety should present evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
She adjourned the case until December 9 for further hearing.
