The Israeli government has alerted its citizens abroad to potential jihadist attacks ahead of the third anniversary of Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The government issued this security alert on Tuesday, the eve of the anniversary.

“As we approach the third anniversary of October 7, the National Security Council (NSC) emphasises the increased threat of attempts to harm Israelis and Jews abroad, alongside demonstrations and riots,” the Israeli government said.

Warning its citizens in the diaspora to be security-conscious, the government said, “terrorist organisations, and particularly Iran and its proxies, Hamas, and Global Jihad factions, see this date as a significant milestone.”

As a precaution, Israel urged its citizens in the diaspora to “avoid posting advance information on social media regarding travel or movements abroad. Avoid travelling to destinations under a Level 4 travel warning: Jordan, Qatar, Somaliland and Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula.”

“In Level 3 destinations, minimise speaking Hebrew in crowded places. Stay away from demonstrations and large gatherings. Do not post on social media content that reflects your service in the security forces,” it said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday said at least 4,000 of Hamas terrorists have been eliminated after the October 7, 2023, massacre of Israelis.

Mr Netanyahu, in a speech on the deadly attack that left over 1,000 dead three years ago, mourned women, children and every victim of the Hamas terrorist attack of October 7, 2023.
