October 7 Attack: Germany says Hamas must answer UN rape allegation

Germany’s Minister for Family Affairs, Lisa Paus, has welcomed the meeting of the UN Security Council regarding a report showing that members of the Palestinian Hamas movement committed sexual violence.
It was reported that the Palestinian Hamas movement had committed sexual violence against Israelis during the October 7 massacre.
Ms Paus said it was good that the UN report was being discussed in the most important UN body.
However, “more clarification is needed so that these heinous crimes and the terror of Hamas are brought to justice,’’ Ms Paus told dpa in New York on Monday.
Ms Paus is currently in the U.S. for the annual meeting of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
In the report, the UN classifies the Israeli allegations of sexualised violence during the massacre by Hamas terrorists on October 7 as credible.
There are reasonable grounds to believe that rapes and gang rapes had taken place in at least three locations during the attacks.
