Obi is my hero, Wike says; begs Igbo traders to vote PDP’s Sim Fubara for governor

In an attempt to get Igbo traders in Port Harcourt to vote for Sim Fubara, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike has described Peter Obi of Labour Party as his hero for the February 25 presidential election.
Praising Mr Obi, who swept clean votes from the South East, in a town hall with Igbo traders in Port Harcourt, Mr Wike said “In this election that we just did, Obi is my hero, as far as I’m concerned.”
The Rivers governor said Mr Obi’s candidature blocked northerners from retaining power after President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight years in office.
“If he (Mr Obi) didn’t contest, power would have remained in the North,” Mr Wike said, while pleading for the traders’ support for the Mr Fubara’s gubernatorial ambition.
Hosting the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide at Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, Mr Wike had said Mr Obi left the PDP for Labour Party because former governor of Jigawa, Sule Lamido, said a northern candidate must be the party’s flagbearer.
