Oba of Benin declares two-week fasting, prayers over ‘peaceful’ guber election

The Oba of Benin invited all sons and daughters of the Benin Kingdom, as well as indigenes and non-indigenes in Edo State, to participate.

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has declared a two-week fasting and prayer for peaceful elections and a bountiful harvest.

On Tuesday, Stanley Obamwonyi, Esere of Benin, quoted the oba as inviting all sons and daughters of Benin Kingdom, indigenes, and non-indigenes in Edo State to participate.

“From September 26 to October 9, 2024, fasting will take place daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.,” the monarch said.

He said there was a need to thank God for the peaceful 2024 gubernatorial election and protection from evil.

The oba also said there is a need to ask God for a bountiful harvest and peace in homes, families, and the state.
