OAUSTECH: Ondo govt releases funds for implementation of FG-unions agreement
Temi Ologunorisa, the vice-chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, confirmed that the state government released funds to implement the 2025 FG-unions agreement.
Mr Ologunorisa announced the fund release in a statement on Friday. He said the funds covered payment of arrears and consequential adjustments arising from the 2025 FG agreement with all unions in the institution.
The unions include the Academic Staff Union of Universities, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, and the National Association of Academic Technologists.
The vice-chancellor noted that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa showed uncommon commitment to workers’ welfare by promptly releasing the funds to effect payment despite prevailing economic challenges.
He assured that the university management would ensure the immediate disbursement of the funds to all beneficiaries, calling on staff to reciprocate the government’s gesture with greater dedication and productivity.
“On behalf of the management, Senate and Congregation of OAUSTECH, I wish to express our sincere gratitude to Aiyedatiwa for releasing funds for the implementation of the 2025 federal government agreement with ASUU, NASU, SSANU and NAAT.
“This gesture is a clear testimony to Mr Governor’s commitment to industrial harmony, staff welfare and the development of tertiary education in Ondo State,” Mr Ologunorisa said.
Meanwhile, leaders of the four unions in the institution commended the state government and the university management over development. The leaders are Oluwatoyin Ogunbamike, ASUU chairman; Kunle Akinwonmi, NASU chairman; Bobola Bamigbola, NAAT chairman; and Ajayi Agboola, SSANU secretary.
They appreciated the governor, saying that the implementation of the FG-Union agreement and disbursement of funds showed that the present administration listened to their plights. They said the gesture would enhance their teaching, research and the discharge of their duties accordingly.
NAN reports that all unions, except ASUU, suspended their four-week industrial action on September 28 following an agreement with the state government.
