NUC directed to complete nuclear energy curriculum on time

Education minister Tahir Mamman has directed the National Universities Commission (NUC) to expedite action on completing the Nuclear Energy Curriculum.
Mr Mamman said this in a statement on Thursday by the education ministry’s spokesman, Ben Goong.
Mamman said this was to enable universities, the Nigerian Atomic Energy Commission, and polytechnics to commence the training of nuclear scientists and technologists locally.
Mr Mamman said this when he received the leadership of NAEC on a courtesy visit in Abuja.
He said the federal government would prioritise the award of scholarships to students.
He said students wishing to study Nuclear Science and related courses within and outside the country would be given due consideration.
NAEC director-general Yusuf Ahmed said the commission was partnering with Korea and China to meet its training needs for nuclear scientists, adding that there was a need for the country to look inward in this regard.
Mr Ahmed emphasised that human capital development was critical for the country in pursuing a nuclear programme to meet its energy and pharmaceutical needs.
