The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has said inter-agency collaboration is key to tackling security challenges in the country.

The NSCDC Lagos State commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, said this on Tuesday when he hosted the NAN Lagos management team.

Mr Keshinro said that collaborating with sister security agencies and stakeholders, including the civilian populace in Lagos, had made the responsibilities of the corps seamless.

He disclosed that the NSCDC was in partnership with a German political foundation, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, in training other security agencies.

He said that the training spread across five geopolitical zones except the South-West, taking into consideration challenges faced by each zone.

He said that the South-West training had been approved by the foundation and would commence soon.

The commandant also said that other stakeholders, including traditional institutions, religious leaders, youth, and women’s groups, were also trained in inter-agency collaboration, noting that security agencies could not do the job alone.

He said, “None of us is as good as all of us put together; one way or the other, there might be some little clashes, but people are trained in conflict resolution in a manner that it will not escalate.’’

Earlier, Head of NAN Lagos Office, Adeleye Ajayi, said that the NSCDC operations in Lagos were smooth.

Mr Adeleye said that there had been robust collaboration between NSCDC and NAN over the years.

He urged both organisations to leverage the relationship between them to continue to give the Nigerian populace true information on its activities in Lagos.

He added that speaking to NAN implied speaking to all in Nigeria.
