NSCDC, justice ministry partner to prosecute Ondo offenders

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, has partnered with the Ministry of Justice to protect critical national assets and prosecute offences in the state.
The state NSCDC Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, stated this on Wednesday in Akure during a courtesy visit by the command’s legal team to the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Olukayode Ajulo, SAN.
Mrs Ibiloye said that the partnership became necessary in areas of collaboration and support from the attorney general.
He also said that the command’s legal team was having issues prosecuting criminal offences at the courts.
He said, “The legal officers of the command are doing well and getting convictions in court, but we are having issues prosecuting state offences. Your assistance will be required in this area. We are also committed in partnering with you in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure in the state, especially to stop illegal mining which is now rampant in the state.’’
In his remarks, Mr Ajulo assured the command’s legal team of his ministry’s maximum support, and said that a fiat would be granted to prosecute state matters whenever the need arises.
According to the commissioner, the ministry has attended promptly to all gender-based violence related cases forwarded by the NSCDC.
He stated, “Human beings are the most important critical asset of any nation. We really need each other and I am in a hurry to make a mark. Whatever assistance you need, we will do it. Your office must be effective enough to deliver on your mandate. The required fiat will be granted to you to prosecute state offences whenever the need arises.’’
