NSCDC finds kidnapped Jigawa trader found unconscious on roadside

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps operatives in Jigawa have rescued an unconscious man, Umar Ibrahim, dumped by suspected robbers along Kiyawa road, Kiyawa local council.
NSCDC spokesperson Adamu Shehu confirmed the incident on Monday in Dutse.
Mr Shehu said NSCDC rescued the man after receiving a distress call from Malam Wadari, the ward head of Mabara of Kiyawa LGA, about the victim lying by the roadside with a cable tightened to his neck.
“Today, at about 6:00 p.m., the command received a distress call from Malam Wadari, ward head of Mabara, a village under Andaza town, Kiyawa LGA, that he received a report of an unconscious man lying by the roadside along Kiyawa Road with a cable tightened to his neck,” Mr Shehu said.
He explained that the 58-year-old man, a resident of Sarari of Dutse LGA, was on his way to Shuwarin weekly market in Kiyawa LGA when he was kidnapped.
The NSCDC medical team observed that he was bleeding through his mouth due to the cable tied around his neck by the suspected robbers to strangle him. He was subsequently taken to Dutse General Hospital.
“After regaining consciousness, the man stated that he boarded a taxi along the Takur Adduah area in the Dutse metropolis with three passengers, including the driver,” stated the NSCDC spokesman. “He claimed that the suspected robbers stole N97,000 from him, which he wanted to use to make purchases at the Shuwarin Monday Market. He said he could not say how it all happened but only found himself on a hospital bed.”
The spokesperson added that the NSCDC commandant in Jigawa, Musa Mala, who warned the public against riding taxis at undesignated motor parks to avoid such occurrences, promised to work with other security agencies to apprehend the culprits.
