NSCDC conducts psychological evaluation for armed personnel in Abuja

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, says it has begun psychological evaluation and fitness tests for firearms-bearing personnel.
This is contained in a statement by the NSCDC FCT Command spokesperson, Monica Ojobi, on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Ms Ojobi, the NSCDC FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, while declaring the evaluation’s second edition open, said the test was paramount to ensuring personnel handle firearms safely.
Mr Odumosu urged officers and men to adhere strictly to the corps’ ethics in discharging their duties.
“As officers, you must maintain high standards wherever you find yourselves and ensure that you are a good ambassador of the corps.
“If you are not mentally stable, seek advice and speak out,” he advised.
The commandant reiterated that the corps maintained zero tolerance for misconduct, especially towards the civilian populace it swore to protect.
Mr Odumosu warned that any form of misconduct would be met with appropriate disciplinary sanctions.
“Professionalism must remain our watchword; your uniform is a symbol of authority and not a means to harass, intimidate, or oppress anyone, especially when you are bearing firearms,” he said.
He frowned at the misconduct of the personnel who shot into the air at Kubwa market during an altercation with civilians.
“I am determined to see to it that all FCT personnel are diligent in every area of their responsibilities,” Mr Odumosu said.
He further called on personnel to remain calm and civil during confrontations and provocations, no matter the gravity of the offence.
Mr Odumosu urged the trainees drawn from the command headquarters, divisions, and area commands to participate optimally.
