NSCDC cautions officers against indiscipline, rights abuse in Anambra

The Anambra Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned its officers to desist from actions that violate citizens’ rights and breach professional ethics.
The state commandant, Maku Olatunde, gave the warning during a muster parade at the command’s headquarters in Awka on Monday.
“My administration will not condone any form of misconduct, high-handedness or abuse of power,” he said.
Mr Olatunde said all operatives must operate within the corps’ standard operating procedures and in line with extant laws.
“No officer is permitted to act in a way that erodes public trust or tarnishes the image of the corps,” he said.
Mr Olatunde warned that any personnel found culpable of indiscipline, misuse of authority, or infringement of the fundamental rights of the public would face disciplinary action in accordance with laid down regulations.
The commandant also urged heads of department and units, area commanders and divisional officers to ensure effective command and control of their jurisdictions.
He urged department and unit heads to ensure proper supervision of men under them to ensure full compliance with operational guidelines.
The commandant stressed that officers must exercise the powers conferred on them with utmost professionalism, civility, and respect for human rights.
‘’The conduct of every officer is a reflection of the entire corps,‘’ he said.
Mr Olatunde enjoined the personnel to remain disciplined, accountable and people-friendly, adding that the corps must continue to justify the confidence reposed in it by the public through exemplary service delivery.
