The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger says it has intercepted a vehicle filled with 27 plastic containers of 25 litre-capacity containing crude oil in the Munya Local Government Area of the state.

The command public relations officer, Nasir Abdullahi, announced this while briefing journalists in Minna on Wednesday.

Mr Abdullahi said the command’s station in Sarkin Pawa, Munya, arrested one Bulus Samari, a native of Kaduna State with a vehicle marked ABJ 330 KC with the products suspected to be stolen crude oil.

He explained that the suspect admitted buying the product from Amos of Pai-Masa village of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Mr Abdullahi said the command, under Commandant Ahmed Dandare, assured the public to sustain its responsibility of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.

He reiterated its commitment to hunting suspected economic saboteurs to ensure total blockage of oil theft in the state.

He called on the public, especially those leaving on the pipeline, to assist the corps with useful and timely information on vandals’ activities.

In an interview, the suspected crude oil dealer said it was his first term and regretted his action.

He urged potential dealers not to embark on such illegal business.
