NPFL: Kwara United edge Nasarawa United 1-0

Relegation-threatened Kwara United on Saturday secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over title-chasing Nasarawa United, thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time penalty in Lagos.
The 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 32 encounter, originally billed as a North-Central derby, was played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
Kwara United, popularly known as the Harmony Boys, are currently serving an indefinite ban from their home ground in Ilorin following a crowd disturbance involving Rivers United during their Match Day 23 fixture.
The NPFL disciplinary committee had initially directed Kwara United to play their home matches at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, but the club successfully appealed to have their fixtures moved to Lagos, citing sporting fairness.
In spite of their struggles this season, Kwara United showed resilience in front of Lagos fans, holding firm until the 94th minute when Abdulsalam Abdulsalam converted from the penalty spot after being fouled inside the box by a Nasarawa United defender.
Speaking after the match, Kwara United’s technical adviser, Ashifat Suleiman, praised his team’s determination, describing the win as vital in their fight against relegation.
“We will continue to work hard to retain our league status. We need more points to ensure our survival,” he said.
The victory lifts Kwara United to 19th position on the NPFL table with 36 points, moving them ahead of Kun Khalifat FC, who have a game in hand.
