North Korea attacks U.S. over sending nuclear submarine to Korean peninsula

A spokesman for the Ministry of National Defence of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has condemned the U.S. plan to send a strategic nuclear submarine to the Korean Peninsula.
The spokesman’s condemnation was contained in a statement released on Monday.
The deployment of the U.S. strategic nuclear submarine carrying nuclear warheads on the Korean Peninsula meant that the U.S. strategic nuclear weapons would appear on the peninsula for the first time since 1981.
The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported the statement.
The statement called the U.S. attempt to introduce strategic nuclear weapons onto the Korean Peninsula “the most undisguised nuclear blackmail against the DPRK.’.
It said it was also a threat to its neighbouring countries and a grave challenge to regional and global peace and security.
It urged the U.S. to stop the move.
