No confirmed case of cholera in Yobe: Official

The executive secretary of the Yobe Primary Healthcare Board, Kundi Machina, says there is no confirmed case of cholera in the state.
Mr Machina spoke through Mohammed Kado, the state health promotion officer, in an interview with journalists on Sunday in Damaturu, the state capital.
He stated that the government, in collaboration with UNICEF, had launched a sensitisation campaign on personal hygiene and environmental sanitation across the 17 local government areas of the state.
Mr Machina said the campaign, which focuses more on high-risk LGAs such as Gujba, Gulani, Damaturu, Fika, and Geidam, aims to prevent the outbreak of cholera and other waterborne diseases.
He said that while diarrhoea and related cases were common during the rainy season, there was no evidence of a cholera outbreak in Yobe.
Mr Machina urged the residents to maintain good personal hygiene and environmental sanitation practices to prevent the spread of diseases.
The assurance came as a relief to the residents of the state, who had remained on red alert following reports of cholera outbreaks in some neighbouring states.
