NLC working for Labour Party to destabilise Tinubu’s government with strike action: Bayo Onanuga

Bayo Onanuga says that the planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is a scheme by Peter Obi’s Labour Party to destabilise the Tinubu government.
In a statement on his social media pages, Mr Onanuga accused NLC leader Joe Ajaero of acting out Labour Party’s script aimed at destabilising the Tinubu government with protests.
“My advice to the perceptive workers and the Nigerian populace is simply to ignore Ajaero and his ilk. He is playing politics and is actually acting the script of the opposition Labour Party, out to destabilise the young Tinubu administration,” Mr Onanuga wrote.
Mr Onanuga’s statement comes as a response to planned protest by the NLC against fuel pump price increment.
On Friday, the NLC announced its decision to “embark on a nationwide action and withdrawal of services, against the fraudulent increase in the price of fuel across the thirty-six states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the FCT.”
Mr Tinubu, in his inaugural speech on May 29, said “subsidy is gone”. His pronouncement triggered panic across the country as citizens rush to buy fuel while oil marketers suddenly increase pump price.
On May 31, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) announced pump price increment that saw petrol price skyrocket from N195 to N540 nationwide.
