NIS DG hails Aduku’s appointment as falconets’ coach

The Director-General/CEO of the National Institute for Sports, Philip Shaibu, has said the appointment of Edo Queens head coach Moses Aduku, as Falconets coach, was well deserved.
Mr Shaibu who expressed confidence in Mr Aduku’s wealth of experience, said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja by his Special Assistant on Media, Ben Ogbemudia.
He said that Mr Aduku’s technical depth in women football helped change the narrative in Edo Queens and expressed optimism that the experience would be put into use in his national assignment as falconets coach.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Friday, officially announced the appointments of seasoned tacticians Manu Garba and Moses Aduku as head coaches of the national U17 and U20 teams respectively.
Mr Aduku as Head Coach of the Falconets, Nigeria U20 girls, succeeds Chris Danjuma.
Mr Aduku brings a wealth of experience from the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), having managed top sides such as Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens.
He also served as an assistant coach during the Falconets’ impressive run to the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
Both appointments are strategic as Nigeria prepares for major competitions in the coming months.
The Falconets are scheduled to face Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture in September, while the Golden Eaglets will compete in the WAFU B U17 Boys Tournament in the same month and Nigeria is hosting.
Messrs Garba and Aduku are expected to officially resume duties on Sunday to begin preparations with their respective squads.
