NiMet forecasts three-day sunshine, haziness between Saturday, Monday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted sunshine and haziness between Saturday and Monday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Friday in Abuja predicted sunny and hazy skies on Saturday over the North and North Central States within the forecast period.

The agency predicted cloudy skies in the South with spells of sunshine expected over the inland and coastal region in the mornings.

It envisaged thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Edo and Delta states later in the day.

NiMet’s envisaged sunny skies on Sunday in a hazy atmosphere over both the northern and North central regions throughout the forecast period.

It added, “In the southern parts of the country, cloudy skies with spells of sunshine are expected for both the inland and coastal regions. There are prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun, Edo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa states later in the day.’’

It anticipated cloudy skies with spells of sunshine over the Inland and Coastal regions of the southern part of the country in the morning.

NiMet predicted thunderstorms over parts of Lagos, Edo, Bayelsa and Cross River states later in the day.

The agency advised the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles would be in circulation.

It further advised the people with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues to be cautious of the current weather condition.

NiMet stated, “Strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur, so the public should take adequate precaution. Adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities; airline operators are advised to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
