Nigerian leaders, masses advised to imitate Jesus

Mr Gorro made the call in his Easter message to Nigerians on Monday in Abuja.

Samuel Gorro, executive director of the Centre for Peace Advancement in Nigeria, has urged Nigerian leaders to prioritise security over politics to enhance national growth.

Mr Gorro made the call in his Easter message to Nigerians on Monday in Abuja.

He said insecurity was impeding the country’s development and must be handled firmly.

He added, “We should put security above politics, serve the country more diligently, and all hands must be on deck to salvage the situation.”

According to him, the cleric said Nigeria has been endowed with human and natural resources but requires selfless leaders and peace to prosper.

He urged the leaders to show accountability and ensure justice and equity to build a solid foundation for addressing poverty and insecurity in the country.

Mr Gorro said injustice, corruption, greed and nepotism have contributed to the poverty, hunger, conflict and violence in the country.

Therefore, Mr Gorro called on Nigerians to support one another and build a community driven by love and compassion.

“The current situation of economic recession that we are facing calls for patience, more hard work, care and support to the poor,” he explained.

He also urged Nigerians to emulate Jesus Christ’s demonstration of love, who died to save humanity, by loving the country in such a manner.

According to him, believers must be Christ-like, show love and do everything possible to make the country prosper so that its endowment can be harnessed and enjoyed.

“We must sacrifice to serve others, except for those who do not believe in Nigeria. So, I call on all Christians and all Nigerians to love one another and be our brothers’ keepers, so that we will be good citizens, patriotic Nigerians.

“And our country will be developed and be counted among the great nations on earth,” he said.
