Nigerian Army intensifies efforts to build combat-ready soldiers

The army chief stated this while declaring open a seminar on intensifying warrior ethos, post-traumatic stress disorder management, and substance abuse held at the Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna on Wednesday .
He identified warrior ethos as a fundamental pillar of operational effectiveness. Mr Shaibu said the army would continue to be at the forefront in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in defence of Nigeria.
Mr Shaibu commended the initiative, stating that it would enhance operational effectiveness and maintain strategic advantage in the face of complex security challenges. He restated the centrality of mental resilience, courage, and unyielding commitment to prevail in all missions.
Mr Shaibu, by integrating lessons from the field with intellectual reflection and doctrinal innovation, the army can refine its strategies required to secure Nigeria’s enduring stability. He noted that the increasingly complex and evolving nature of the contemporary threat landscape necessitates a more adaptive and holistic approach to conducting its operations.
Mr Shaibu explained that the seminar highlighted the strategic significance of the warrior ethos as a fundamental pillar of operational effectiveness.
He equally identified the inclusion of discussions on post-traumatic stress disorder and drug abuse, which pose serious challenges to combat readiness and troops’ welfare.
The army chief urged the participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to deepen their professional competence and enhance operational effectiveness.
Mr Shaibu expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his steadfast support and strategic guidance to the Nigerian Army.
