The coordinating minister of health and social welfare, Muhammad Pate, has said that the federal government is set to release Nigeria’s inaugural state of health report.

Mr Pate disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja at a media conference on the forthcoming health sector joint annual review (JAR).

According to him, this report is a culmination of various surveys and data compiled by different departments and agencies under the ministry to gauge Nigerians’ perceptions of the health system and its impact.

Mr Pate explained that the report would provide a baseline for ongoing health sector reforms, enabling informed decision-making and targeted interventions.

He said the report would be reviewed at the forthcoming health sector joint annual review (JAR), scheduled to take place from November 6 to 8 November.

“The JAR will bring together key stakeholders, including state governors, commissioners, and development partners, to discuss Nigeria’s healthcare sector progress.

“The assessment will focus on maternal and child health, access to primary healthcare, combating diseases: HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria.”

Mr Pate emphasised that the JAR, coordinated through the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp), would foster an ongoing dialogue among agencies, parastatals, development partners, and media to promote accountability, track progress, and build a unified ‘One Health’ narrative.

The review will bring together key stakeholders, including state governors, commissioners, and development partners, to discuss the path forward for Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
