Nicolas Jackson’s brace for Aston Villa condemns Man City to first league defeat

Nicolas Jackson scored a brace as Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 at Villa Park to condemn Enzo Maresca’s side to their first defeat in the Premier League this season.
It took the Senegalese forward only six minutes into the match to put Aston Villa ahead, smashing home a cross into the box by John McGinn, an advantage that the hosts maintained until half-time.
However, Erling Haaland equalised for Man City seven minutes into the second half when he headed home a cross by Iliman Ndiaye but Jackson responded exactly on the hour mark to put Aston Villa ahead once again.
Despite a late threat from Man City to come back into the match, Aston Villa managed to neutralise those attempts as Unai Emery’s team secured the maximum three points.
The defeat marked the first time that Man City have dropped points in the league this season, giving Arsenal a chance to go level on 21 points if they win their match against Aston Villa.
