NGO urges wealthy Nigerians to support less privileged

The Oyakhilome Bello Foundation has urged wealthy Nigerians to reach out to the less privileged and vulnerable members of society to alleviate their suffering.
Its founder, Oyakhilome Bello, made this appeal on Sunday at an outreach programme with the theme “Empowerment For Humanity,” held at the Abuja Unity Fountain.
He stated that the programme was organised to assist the less privileged and vulnerable individuals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by donating food items and providing free medical checks and drugs.
Mr Bello added that this gesture, which will be extended to other parts of the country, is part of his effort to give back to society, especially as someone who had previously experienced poverty.
“This is a God-funded project, and as you know, when GOD is funding you, the heavens are within your reach, and nobody can stop you. This will not end in the FCT.
“We will take it to other parts of the country, but along the way, we will seek partnerships with people who want to join and support us in this dream.
“It’s all about positively impacting lives. It’s a dream come true for me to be able to give back to society. I represent what you all stand for and feel.
“I have gone through a lot in my life, including poverty, and coming back to give to society is a passion that I hold dear,” Mr Bello said.
He decried youth restiveness and substance abuse among young people in some parts of the country, vowing that the foundation would work to address this troubling trend.
Mr Bello, who is also the national youth leader of APC, United States chapter, said the foundation would intensify innovative digital campaigns, social media engagement, and community outreach.
He explained that the foundation’s objective is to empower 100,000 youths across Nigeria by providing them with access to comprehensive healthcare, quality education resources, and financial literacy tools.
Mr Bello also mentioned that the foundation would use innovative technological solutions to foster self-reliance and sustainable community growth while improving health and wellness.
“Our plan is to improve access to comprehensive healthcare services for marginalised communities, with a focus on preventive care, health promotion, and disease management.
“The government alone cannot meet the needs of the citizens. I know there are many Nigerians out there with the resources to positively impact society.
“Imagine if 10 to 20 well-to-do Nigerians are doing what I am doing; we will definitely impact more lives,” Mr Bello said while admonishing youths to remain focused on their dreams.
He added that the foundation would use technology to promote the importance of education among youths and the less privileged by showcasing success stories and providing digital platforms for sharing educational resources.
