NGO joins forces with NSCDC, KADPAP to secure Kaduna

A non-governmental organisation, YandyTech Community Development Initiative, has sought for a synergy with the Kaduna State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in its search for peace in Kaduna.
It has also urged its buy-in on the Kaduna Digital Peace Promotion Advocates Project aimed at forging unity and mutual trust among residents of the state.
The NGO presented these demands when it visited the NSCDC’s command on Friday in Kaduna.
The Project Manager of the initiative, Abubakar Mohammed, said YandyTech Community was a dynamic, impactful youth-led non-profit organisation committed to harnessing technology for positive social change.
He added that the initiative’s mission was to empower marginalised communities through digital literacy, capacity building and advocacy.
Mr Mohammed also said that in January 2024, with support from the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund and Leap Africa, the initiative began the implementation of the KADPAP project.
He explained that the project was focused on using the power of digital media such as social media and podcasts to promote and institutionalise peace-building and social cohesion.
“This will be achieved through youth inclusion, community tolerance and deliberate dialogue among gatekeepers,” he said.
Mr Mohammed stressed the importance of NSCDC to a peaceful society, urging the command to support the initiative for a more peaceful Kaduna State and the nation in general.
Responding, the Commandant of NSCDC, Lucy Fakoya, commended the team for the initiative.
She expressed interest in the initiative, adding that she was encouraged by the team of the young people poised to champion peace in the state.
Ms Fakoya stressed that the initiative was a welcome development, encouraging the team to keep their flag flying and always work as a team.
“The NSCDC is a friendly organisation; we are in support of everything YandyTech Community is doing to promote peace using digital media. You should not hesitate to reach out any time and our doors are always open for you. Whatever support the team wants the NSCDC to give, we will support and oblige,” she said.
